If I did that, I would never run a race. I'm a snail hoping to be a turtle - ha! I'm lucky to get a 13 minute mile, but still I run. I think each race is about trying to do better - whether it's better form or a better time or maybe it's just running the whole thing outright (versus walking). Believe it or not, I am much slower when running the entire distance versus doing a run/walk combo. Just be proud of yourself for any accomplishment you make because running is no joke - it's hard work and any improvement you make is an achievement and you should be so proud of yourself! That is not slow. I was there just a few short years ago. You're doing it and that's what matters. Also congrats on getting further than you did last time. and in 99 deg weather too. That's smokin hot.<br /><br />Yes, I did notice a marked improvement in pace and endurance as I lost weight, for sure. There is lots of hope. Keep up the training and you'll improve.
